Intro to IEBC Work Area Compliance

James Tente, Knoxville Chief Building Inspector, will be the speaker at the monthly CSI lunch meeting to be held at the AGC office at 3306 Ragsdale Ave. Mr. Tente brings 22+ years of leadership in the civil service sector as a code official, building inspector, plans examiner and educator. James’ focus on model codes has led to his 34 International Code Council Certifications, including Certified Building Official and Certified Fire Marshal credentials. James has dedicated his career to the application, interpretation and understanding of the ICC family of I-codes which has led him to attain Master Code Professional status joining the 900 other dedicated industry experts around the globe.
This program is registered for AIA/CES HSW credits and includes the following learning objectives:
What is the IEBC Work Area Compliance Method. (What are the 3 compliance methods, why use the work area method over others.)
What are the different alteration levels, and how does that impact a project. (Overview of what a Work Area is, importance of work area regarding accessibility and understanding the progressive structure of alteration levels.)
Means of egress and fire protection requirements of the Work Area Compliance Method. (How does the work area method impact the means of egress and fire protection requirements.)

The CSI Golf Tournament will be held this year on October 22, 2021 at Egwani Farms Golf Course. Registrations are open for golf teams and for sponsorships. Just look at the top right corner of this webpage and follow the link to the registration page.
The CSI Knoxville Chapter is committed to promoting education in construction related fields. Proceeds from this event help to fund scholarships at the UT College of Architecture & Design and other local design and construction related programs.

ASTM, IBC, UL Listing, AASHTO and other safety codes have made understanding and providing appropriate solutions more challenging than ever. Modern challenges have created a higher demand for very specifically performing fence and perimeter control systems. We take a close look at those requirements and review product solutions for an effective approach to physical site security and access control.
