February Chapter Program - Design as Nature Intended
Posted: Tue, Feb 14, 2023
Angela Prichard with Velux will present the program - Design as Nature Intended - at the CSI Chapter program on Valentine's Day at Buddy's Banquet Hall. This program is registered with AIA for 1LU/ HSW. This presentation addresses how the built environment impacts our fundamental nature as human beings—both from a physiological and psychological standpoint. This course offers innovative ways to design sustainable, energy efficient daylighting solutions that are good for both people and the planet. Covering design considerations and project profiles, enrollees will understand how daylight and fresh air create comfortable, inspiring commercial spaces where we learn, work, and recover.
To reserve a spot and lunch, please email csiknox@gmail.com. Lunch starts at 11:30 AM with the program following at noon.
New Policy for Meals at Chapter Meetings Starts in January 2023
Posted: Thu, Jan 05, 2023
The Knoxville CSI Chapter’s dues of $130 previously funded the monthly meal costs. The dues structure change implemented by CSI Institute in 2022 specifically states that the chapter dues of $130 may no longer cover the cost of meeting meals. The chapter board voted in November 2022 to institute a fee for monthly chapter meeting meals to address this new requirement. Members will be charged $10 per meal with reservation in advance or $15 without reservation.
You may purchase a Meal Ticket in advance for only $70. This will cover meals at all nine normal monthly meetings (Jan, Feb, April, May, June, Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov). This is an annual savings of $20. This offer is only available through the month of January 2023.
Click here to pay now, or bring a check payable to CSI Knoxville to the January 10 meeting at the AGC building at 11:30 AM.

Toys for Tots Donation
Posted: Mon, Dec 19, 2022
The Knoxville Chapter enjoyed their Christmas celebration aboard the Volunteer Princess this year. Each attendee brought a toy to be donated to Toys for Tots. Our own Josh Buchanan took two bags full of gifts to the Marine base on Alcoa Highway after the event. Josh said, " The marines were very appreciative. They said this year they’ve had more families with children signed up to receive toys than ever, and they’ve also received more toy donations. Ours was a great final hour of the drive delivery!" Thank you to everyone that participated in this annual event that began 1997 under the leadership of Curtis Rosenbaum, CSI.

New Student Chapter President - Collin Rummage
Posted: Tue, Oct 04, 2022
Meet Collin Rummage, the incoming president of the CSI Student Affiliate. Collin is currently in his 3rd year of the undergraduate architecture program at UT. He comes to Knoxville from Spring Hill, TN and joined the CSI student affiliate in 2021.
As student affiliate president, Collin presented his plan for the student group for the upcoming year to the CSI board at their meeting in September which was well thought out and well presented! He hopes to supplement the students’ architectural education with field trips and product presentations, which the local chapter can facilitate.
He has not yet had the opportunity to work in the design or construction industry, but he would be a welcome asset to a local firm. His project management skills are quite evident. After graduation he hopes to work a bit in the local industry and then get involved in an international firm. He will use these experiences when he later opens his own firm.
At UT he also participates in leadership positions in the AIAS and the Peer Mentorship Program. He has been motivated through the CSI Lunch & Learns and appreciated the interested topics that the chapter brought to the students last year.
Collin is excited about his opportunity to lead the CSI student group and said, “ I have big plans to help spread the word of CSI, and plan activities and events for the members of the student chapter.”
Please reach out and introduce yourself at the next chapter meeting.
